Mustard Seed Conspiracy Feld of Mustard
My Missions Trip
I absolutely love the Biblical truth presented in Matthew 13:31-32:

31He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches."

It sums up so perfectly our impact on other people and our world around us. Often times we think of doing great things for God, when in reality we can't. But we can do small things ... as if planting mustard seeds ... and God comes up behind us and makes them GREAT! I want to be a part of a true, Biblical, Mustard Seed Conspiracy, sharing Christ in every little way possible, wherever possible!!

I am so excited to be able to move to Prague, Czech Republic for 13 months in August of 2011 with my dear friend and brother in Christ, Jonathan Smiley as my missionary team partner. For most, and even myself, it might be viewed as something great, but when compared to the awesomeness of God, its just a simple task of obedience. Many missionaries have gone before me who have dared to do more than I plan on this trip, so I realize I am only laying a few mustard seeds in comparison ... but these are my seeds and my opportunity to impact the Kingdom for God. I am both excited and humbled by this calling.

Czech Kemp I 2007For a decade, FCC has been traveling to Europe on short term mission trips each summer to work with the Česká Asociace Cheerleaders (Czech Cheerleading Association). Every year we have left the Gospel and each subsequent year returned to see it growing. However, we have often left the Gospel with very little connection to the Body of Christ already established in Czech, Slovenia, and Croatia. Our purpose is to bridge the gap between all the wonderful and beautiful friendships we've established there and connect them to churches and ministries permanently established in those countries. Ultimately, our goal is two fold:
  1. To lead people to Christ through our friendships currently established in Czech, Slovenia, and Croatia; and
  2. To connect them to local churches and permanent Christian ministries near their homes.
In our past visits we have developed many wonderful relationships with other missionaries (Majak Ministries), Christian organizations (Athletes in Action), and local pastors in the area that we are excited to work with in this endeavor. And that is only scratching the surface of potential partners we could have!

Our connection through FCC has given us such an amazing network of friendships and relationships all throughout Czech, Slovenia, Croatia. Its a daunting thought to ponder how we will be able to reach all our friends in the allotted time. There is such a need for the Gospel in this part of the world. The Czech Republic is the second most atheistic country per capita in all of Europe, primarily caused by years behind the "Iron Curtain". Slovenia and Croatia have also been affected by communism, which left a substantial atheistic belief system behind there as well. We have a HUGE task before us with lots of work to be done ... but that's not for us to worry about, that's God's part in all of this! We are just called to go and plant as many mustard seeds as possible!

Smiley and I plan to live and work in Prague, Czech Republic. Though many "tent making" opportunities will be available to us, which we plan on seeking out and accepting, there is no possible way we could do this without the support from the Body of Christ. In order to have the available time to complete our missionary work, we need to be free from the typical "9-5 job" while living in Czech. This means we will need to be fully supported by YOU, our brothers and sisters in Christ, to complete our calling. I will be subsidizing as much as possible with my own personal savings and using ALL income from my personal web design business to subsidize this mission trip. Smiley is frantically trying to keep up with choreography and coaching jobs to help bare his portion of the trip. However, those jobs will not be enough! The cost of living per month in Prague, Czech Republic is comparable to that of the US, about $1,600. If you would like to join me in my mission to plant mustard seeds all over Eastern Europe, then please, send your support to:

I pray and hope that you will enable me to fulfill my calling in Christ and support me next year, either through financial support or, most importantly, through PRAYER! Its a long road ahead ... "but with God, nothing is impossible!" Upon my planned return from the Czech Republic in August 2012, I hope to resume my teaching ministry at Madison Christian High School. The School Board has graciously, but tentatively, approved an unpaid year sabbatical in order for me to move to the Czech. Please keep this in your prayers as I love MCS and my students there with all my heart ... It is my desire to return to them and continue planting many more mustard seeds at MCS for years to come!

Jonathan Smiley plans on remaining behind in the Czech repbulic and remaining as a semi-permanent missionary. His call and connection with the Czech people is powerful and inspiring.

While we prepare to leave and all throughout our missionary travels, we will be updating the blog found on this website so that you will be able to share with ws the wondrous and amazing experiences God has in store over the next year! We will also post prayer requests regarding our missionary efforts as well! Please return regularly to read the updates, find out our prayer needs, and send us any messages from home! God Bless and čau!

In His Hands,
Blake & Smiley
